What is the difference between Peel & Seal and gummed envelope closure?

Here’s a simple breakdown of the two envelope closure types:

Peel & Seal (Self-Sealing)

  • Has a strip of latex adhesive protected by a removable strip on the flap.
  • To seal: Remove the protective strip and press the flap down.
  • Advantages: Clean, quick, safe (no licking), and time-saving.
  • Available on most of our envelope products.

Gummed (Traditional)

  • Has a layer of moisture-activated adhesive along the flap.
  • To seal: Moisten the adhesive (with a sponge, water, or lick) and press closed.

Recommendation: Choose Peel & Seal if you want the easiest and most convenient option — especially for large quantities or when mailing yourself.

Both styles create a secure seal, but Peel & Seal is generally more popular for convenience.
